Mentoring for
Women
I had
finished my degree course at University and after three years
of studying and graduating with a first class degree in
Engineering I set about applying for a job. I thought it would
be easy to get the job I was looking for after obtaining such a
good degree, so I wasn't too disappointed when my applications
for the first few jobs were turned down. I had already been out
and bought myself some smart looking clothes which I was going
to wear for any interview that I had to attend. I particularly
like the Tommy Hilfiger label and also the Shoes for Women
collection. Finally after four weeks of sending letters
applying for jobs which I felt I was suited for, I got my first
interview.
Dressed in my
Tommy Hilfiger coat and my new shoes which were from the Shoes
for Women range, I nervously prepared myself for the interview.
Although I am a fairly confident person as a rule, I must admit
as soon as I walked through the door to be interviewed nerves
got the better of me. I didn't seem to be able to find the
right answers to anything and felt a complete fool. Needless to
say, I didn't get the job. Never mind, I thought to myself,
next time I will be a lot better and able to put myself across
properly. The second time I went for an interview, using
Gebrauchtwagen (Used Cars), although I knew I was
looking smart wearing my Tommy Hilfiger coat and the new
Shoes for Women I began to get the same feelings again and
for the second time running my legs turned to jelly. With so
many other applicants after the same job who was going to
employ a nervous wreck like me, I asked myself. I began to
wonder if other people had the same problem and if they did,
was there anything that could be done about it.
I found the answer to my problem by chance. I was reading a
magazine and read that nowadays people can have a Mentor to
help them to maximise their potential and develop their skills.
A Mentor can help the mentee to believe in them selves and
boost their confidence. Mentoring allows the mentee to explore
new ideas in confidence. A Mentor is a guide who can help the
mentee find the right direction to develop solutions in career
issues. Mentoring makes you become more self-aware by taking
responsibility for your life and not just leaving it to
chance.
I arranged to meet my Mentor whose name I had been given by a
friend but was rather concerned about what business shoes I
should wear for the Mentoring assignment. I decided that the
pair of shoes from the Shoes for Women range would be perfect
and so would my Tommy Hilfiger coat. Having a Mentor made a
huge difference and when I attended my next interview the
nerves had completely disappeared and I now have the perfect
job.
