Hamburg Hotel Venue for Tele-Mentoring Seminar

Everyone is really excited about the new seminar, as so much had taken place since the last one almost 18 months ago. It is a great opportunity to have a little break as well, and Hamburg seems like a fantastic city to visit. So much is changing in the tele-mentoring world and it is up to us as teachers to keep up to date with all of these ideological and technological developments. Our teaching organisation was developed in order to offer educational support and resources to variety of people, mainly through the use of Internet communication technologies.

This tele-mentoring seminar was going to be important, as I knew that there was a lot of new developments that I needed to be educated on myself. I think this was part of the reason that so many teachers enjoyed these seminars so much, as they allow the teacher to turn into a student for a couple of days. Germany has always been a bit of a hot spot for these technology fueled initiatives, and the world of tele-mentoring is no different. I have come over from England and many other tele-mentors had travelled from almost all corners of Europe in order to meet for this conference in the great city of Hamburg.

Our organisation was a bit of a mish mash of different people, although all were dedicated to the teaching process in some way. There were professional teachers like myself who had been out of the game for a few years but still loved teaching people in an online environment. There were also trained professionals in other specific fields of industry that passed on their expertise to a new generation. This is the great thing about our organisation as it is not just relevant to one field but allows all tele-mentors to meet and learn from each other no matter what their speciality.

Tele-mentoring was often split up into the sub strands of business mentoring, school system mentoring and community mentoring. The truth however was that all three of these strands were very similar and used

almost identical technology and methodologies. That was why this seminar in a hotel Hamburg was going to be so worthwhile to everyone attending, as you can often learn more from those in separate but related fields than you can talking to your direct colleagues. Once I got off the plane at the airport I really began to get excited, both because of the new city that I was about to discover and the new ideas and people that I was about to come into contact with.

I'm not sure who chose our hotel for this seminar, but they did a great job. I had only seen it from pictures on its zleep.de website, so it is great to finally be here in person. Today, on the first afternoon, we all spent checking in and meeting up with friends and colleagues, some of whom I hadn't seen since the last conference so long ago. Now it is time to get some sleep before the seminar officially begins tomorrow. My speech is at 3pm tomorrow afternoon and I am going to retire now to my room and perform those necessary last minute touches and get some much needed rest.
